CLIMATE CHANGE

In South Louisiana, erosion and rising water are steadily wearing away the land as rivers, storms, and the Gulf of Mexico reshape the coast. Wetlands and barrier islands are disappearing due to sea-level rise, subsidence, and reduced sediment flow, leaving people more vulnerable to flooding and hurricanes.

As water levels rise, many residents are being forced to leave their homes turning climate change and coastal erosion into drivers of migration.
